Narrative
Art the Clown prepares to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they sleep peacefully on Christmas Eve. Director Damien Leone said that several major studios were interested in financing the film based on the unexpected success of Terrifier 2 (2022), even without a full script, but that he turned them all down because he was sure they would never let him do the opening scene alone, which ” very controversial”. Leone commented that the only reason he can be so uncompromising in his portrayal of horror and gore is because he finances his films independently, creates all the special effects himself to keep costs down, and doesn’t have a major studio breathing down his neck that a film is more mainstream.. Mia mentions that the 5 year anniversary of the original massacre is coming up, but it happened on Halloween and this movie taking place 5 years later at Christmas would mean that the anniversary was just 2 months ago..
Next up is Terrifier (2016)
There is an uncut version of the film that is 2 hours 25 minutes long with 5 additional scenes. Art by Drew Fulk, Joe Occhiuti, Paul Wiley, Spencer Charnas and Steve Sopchak Artist: Ice Nine Kills and Shavo Odadjian. If you’re looking for gore, look no further! Terrifier 3 had the blood we wanted!
However, to be honest, none of the kills in Terrifier 2 were top of mind
Overall, I’d say there’s more killing and gore than the second movie, but none of the kills (not even the main kills) were like the second movie. Another thing, half of the kills have to be imagined by you, as half of them either happen off-screen or have already happened by the time the camera pans to the scene. This was a big disappointment as there were a lot of “main kills”; it should have been shown because they were supposed to be emotional. As for the plot, I think I liked the second movie better because the pacing of this movie was a bit off.
In the end, the last 20 minutes really let me down
Between the time jumps, the sienna drawing, and the art plot, the pacing just wasn’t right. It did very little to build on Art or Siennas story. It just felt like there were a lot of breaks between each kill. Also, you never really develop an emotional connection with any of the characters in this movie besides Sienna.
Overall, I’d say Terrifier 2 was better
Almost none of the murders were shown on screen and believe me, those murders should have been shown. Art the Clown, Pennywise and Killer Klowns are just some of the comical creatures that send shivers down our spines. Check out the scariest clowns to grace your screen.
